G.O.A.L.S.

My group and I went to Kafe Kerouac on Sunday, October 28, and hung out for a bit. My favorite part of going there was that it was comfortable and calming place where I would be able to study if I needed an environment change. I also liked how there were board games and puzzles off to the side so if I wanted to go there just to relax there would be some games to play or puzzles to complete. My least favorite part of the Kafe was that it was pretty small so if I go there to study it might be full. What I learned from this experience is that there are places to go to get out of the regular campus busyness not too far off of campus. I will definitely think about going back to study for exams or other tests and I think that I would also recommend it to a friend because it is a good place to be able to focus and relax.

David Joseph and I went to short north and ate pizza from Mikey’s Late Night Slice on November, 26. The pizza that he had there was absolutely amazing and I would definitely considering going there again. The only problem with Mikey’s Late Night Slice is that there is no inside seating at all. David and I did not realize this when we went and so we were freezing when we are our pizza but it was still worth it because of how good the pizza was. This is a place that I would recommend to my friends because the pizza was so good, but I would say that they should go when it is warmer out because of the seating situation. Overall I enjoyed my experience because it was not too far of a bus ride off of campus and even though I was so cold the pizza was extremely good and made up for it.

Career

[“Career” is where you can collect information about your experiences and skills that will apply to your future career.  Like your resume, this is information that will evolve over time and should be continually updated.  For more guidance on using your ePortfolio, including questions and prompts that will help you get started, please visit the Honors & Scholars ePortfolio course in Carmen. Artifacts

My first artifact is playing baseball. I played baseball from when I was around 5 years old all the way through high school. In high school I was the shortstop and best pitcher for our school and I had a blast being the leader of the team. I also played baseball every summer and I made so many new friendships from being with my teammates every weekend. Baseball has taught me so many different things including how to stay mentally positive and how to be a competitor. Baseball has been such an important part of my life that I have known every since I was a little kid.

My second artifact that represents who I am as a person from this autumn semester is Design For 90. I joined the Design for 90 club because I was very excited with their mission and how they help people that are underserved by engineering for them. Being in Design For 90 is something that I really enjoy because it combines two of my passions, engineering and helping others. Currently I am on a project team that is looking at a new way to create energy that is helpful to the environment instead of harmful so that we will be able to live on a healthy planet for a much longer time than we would at the rate we are going. I am very excited about this project because dealing with renewable and clean energy is something that I would like to do as a career later in my life.

About Me

My name is Ken Sherick and I am a Mechanical Engineering student at The Ohio State University. I went to Kettering Fairmont High School in Kettering, Ohio and played baseball as well as serving on the school class council. I am in Humanitarian Engineering Scholars and I play intramural sports here at Ohio State. I am interested in engineering and creating clean energy.

  1. Connectedness – The connectedness strength says that people with this trait believe in the links between all things. I would say that this is very fitting as my number 1 strength because I very much agree in believing that everything happens for a reason.
  2. Competition – According to this poll a person with the competitive trait “strives to win first place and revel in contests.” I am almost surprised that competition is not my first trait because I am always looking to be the best at whatever I do no matter if it is school, sports, or competition with my friends.
  3. Futuristic – Futuristic is a trait that is very fitting for me because as an engineer I am always looking ahead at how to make things better and more efficient for the future.
  4. Individualization – I would say that individualization is a good trait to describe me because when I work in a group I like to be the group leader because I feel like I like am able to make the group run efficiently.
  5. Deliberative – Being deliberative is described as the ” serious care they take in making decisions or choices. They anticipate the obstacles.” This describes me very well because I always think out my decisions and think about the impacts it could have on the future.
