About Me

Hello! My name is Jacob Shell, and I am a part of the Class of 2024 here at OSU. I currently plan on majoring in Biomedical Engineering, with a possible minor in Spanish. I plan on focusing on nanotechnology in my major, although prosthesis or virology are both viable options for me as well. At the moment, I am only enrolled in the Environmental and Natural Resource Scholars, but it is my goal to obtain a high enough GPA to not only make it into my major, but also make it into Honors for 2021 Spring semester and onward. I want into Honors because of the research experience, which I plan to use alongside my major to try and find solutions for some of today’s medical issues. I had great interest in the ENR Scholar group for various reasons, one of course being that I love the outdoors. I have been camping, hiking, hunting and fishing since the day I was born, so the wilderness has always been a part of me. That combined with participation in competitions such as Envirothon, Teen EcoSummit, and TEAMS all contributed to my strive for sustainability, and the well being of the ecosystem. It is my goal to remain as sustainable as possible, and I plan to do so in my everyday life, as well as my carrer. In terms of myself, I am a first generation college student, and I am from Bellefontaine, Ohio. I have Hispanic ethnicity (specifically Costa Rican, aka Tico) from my maternal side, and to this day, half my family lives in Costa Rica. I was 2nd in my class of around 205 at Bellefontaine High School, with a weighted GPA of 4.5445. I am ready to continue my hard work into not only OSU, but also in my career, as well as the rest of my life.
