What Does a School Nurse Do?

My goal is to have a healthy building of staff and students who are meeting their educational goals.

The School Nurse plays many roles: Student advocate, counselor, case manager of sorts, a source of medical guidance in the educational setting, just to name a few.

Some Duties on My School Calendar for This Year:

Covid 19 Education and Decision Committee Member for School Restart

Ensure all students are up to date on Vaccinations

Hearing and Vision Screens of around 250 students and referrals if there were deficits found

Several classroom Hygiene demonstrations

Collaborating with the FFA officers for a Hygiene item drive to start up our student use Caring Closet.

Puberty Education to the 5th Grade Class

Dental and Physical Health Discussion with all first and second grade students

Assisting with kindergarten screening and parent night

Organizing the Annual Visit from Mobile Dentist Group and Referrals to local dentists if needed
