Dr. Madison Kackley
Dr. Kackley is a strong advocate for women’s health research, with a career dedicated to understanding the intricate interplay between nutrition, metabolism, and hormonal health. Her research delves into the effects of exogenous ketones and ketogenic diets on various physiological outcomes, metabolic health, and cognitive function. Dr. Kackley has led groundbreaking trials that highlight the potential of specific dietary interventions to restore menstrual cycles in overweight or obese women, demonstrating promising implications for brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) levels. This work has catalyzed further investigations into pressing women’s health issues, including insulin resistance, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and perimenopause, advancing a broader understanding of how tailored nutritional strategies can improve health outcomes for women across the lifespan.
Teryn Bedell, MS, RD
Teryn Bedell is a Senior Research Associate and Co-Principal Investigator for the SHE IS Lab Group. As a registered dietitian, she plays a critical role in developing dietetic protocols and creating tailored menus for each of our studies. Teryn’s career centers on educating clients about the benefits and practical application of low-carbohydrate and well-formulated ketogenic dietary approaches. As a mother, she brings a unique passion for exploring dietetic interventions that support women’s health, making her a dedicated advocate for nutritional solutions that benefit women at various life stages.
Dr. Rima Kang, MD
Dr. Rima Kang, MD is a board-certified nephrologist and valued collaborator at the SHE IS Laboratory. Based at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Dr. Kang specializes in kidney health, with a particular focus on advancing care for women with renal conditions. Her clinical and research interests intersect at the nexus of nephrology, hormonal health, and metabolism, aiming to address unique challenges faced by women with chronic kidney diseases. Dr. Kang’s partnership with the SHE IS Lab has been pivotal in studies such as EKKO-FEMME, where she contributes her expertise to assess the impact of ketogenic dietary interventions on kidney function and hormonal outcomes in women with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD). Her dedication to patient-centered research and innovative therapeutic approaches continues to drive advancements in women’s renal health.
