Specialized Training

It truly takes a team effort in the school setting to help keep students healthy, ready, and able to learn. With health care needs on the rise, there may be students who have more specialized healthcare needs that require additional information and/or training for staff so that the student remains safe and the school staff feels comfortable maintaining the health of the student during the school day. The school nurse can help bridge the gap and provide education for school staff to maintain the safety and wellbeing of students in the district. In the link below is a specialized training session I developed for members of the district on the identification of a diabetic emergency called hypoglycemia. Having school staff prepared in managing diabetes in the educational setting is essential in keeping the student safe while maintaining their education with their peers.
