The school nurse’s role in the school system is complex and ever evolving. One major role of the school nurse is participation is health education aspects in the classroom. The school nurse can provided valuable health lessons to all age groups in the school setting educating on different topics including but not limited to handwashing, recognizing different types of abuse, puberty, and CPR. Having a well thought-out lesson plan, incorporating different learning techniques, will help students retain needed information. The link listed below highlights my lesson plan for CPR/AED instruction in the classroom to meet Ohio Revised Code 3313.60 for students grades 9-12 graduation requirements.
