BuckeyeThon Team Member

On February 10-11th, I had the amazing experience of participating in BuckeyeThon as a team member on the International Affairs Scholars’ team. I spent 12 hours on my feet dancing, playing, and having fun, all while raising money for Nationwide Children’s Hospital. It was such a fun night of spending time with my fellow IA Scholars as well as meeting new friends along the way. We were able to meet several of the BuckeyeThon kids and talk to them about there experiences, which was truly eye-opening. BuckeyeThon was one of the greatest parts of my first year in college, and I am excited to participate again the next three years.

IA Toronto Trip

IA Scholars students gathered around the Toronto sign

One of the most amazing opportunities I was given during my first semester of college was a trip to Toronto with my International Affairs Scholars group. It was a great first experience in Canada, and I was able to share it with some of my good friends. We got to visit several museums and tour the city during our free time, and it was a great taste of international travels as an adult. The trip made me more interested in studying or even working abroad after graduation.

About Me

"Claire McAdams Photography"

Hi there, my name is Taylor Sheets. I live in a small suburb of Houston, Texas, called Spring.  I am majoring in Business with a specialization in Marketing. I am in the International Affairs Scholars program here at Ohio State because I am fascinated with the various cultures throughout the world and I hope to work abroad some day. Academically, I would like to be able to understand my major enough to be able to develop an interest in a particular field of work through my time at Ohio State. I would love to get involved, not only on campus, but I would like to be involved in community service throughout the entire city of Columbus. During my time in high school, I became very active in my Student Council, which helped me realize my passion for community service and philanthropy. While in Columbus, I plan on carrying those interests with me, and making my new home a better place for everyone. I have developed leadership skills and would like to build on those and use my degree and education to help better the world.

Year in Review

My first year at Ohio State has been incredible. I made several friends, became involved in organizations around campus, and had an amazing time, all while maintaining a good GPA. College has already taught me many things about bettering myself as both a student and as a person. I have learned better study habits and put more effort into my work, because it is motivating having professors who are so passionate at their subject. I have attempted to become more educated over both local and global events, to better understand the world and remain current on its happenings. I also believe that I have developed as a person, due to my contact with people from all across the world. I am able to learn about the cultures and challenges other people have to face, which has helped me to better put my own life into perspective. Next year I hope to engage in different courses and organizations throughout Fisher, allowing me to apply the things i’ve learned throughout this year. I hope that my involvement in IA continues to allow me to further my understanding and interest in global experiences and how they can shape my future.
