Rusty Burgett, Program Director, National Sheep Improvement Program
On behalf of the National Sheep Improvement Program and the sale committee, we would like to invite you to our 2nd annual Eastern NSIP Sheep Sale at the Wayne County Fairgrounds in Wooster, OH at 1:00 p.m. on August 11, 2018. This sale will be a great opportunity to access proven genetics that have been selected for increased productivity and profitability. Sheep can be found to improve lambing and weaning rates along with growth rates, increase carcass cutability and build parasite resistance. There will truly be a sheep for everyone.
In addition to sheep, we are offering an educational workshop open to everyone starting at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 11th in the sale arena.
We are very fortunate to have Dr. David Notter, Professor Emeritus from Virginia Tech, one of the country’s leading sheep geneticists, presenting on the benefits of utilizing estimated breeding values in genetic selection decisions.
Mr. Brady Campbell from The Ohio State University with the OSU Sheep Team will also be presenting on identifying the various lamb markets throughout the state and matching genetic selection to capture those key markets.
Presentations will conclude by 12:00 p.m., leaving plenty of time to apply what you learn while viewing the sale offerings and the sale will start promptly at 1:00 p.m.
We hope you can benefit from the educational buyers workshop preceding the sale, which will also be a great networking opportunity. Interest in NSIP and sheep selected for productivity improvement has never been higher. This is your chance to see what the buzz is about and take home genetics chosen for one purpose: improving your bottom line.
Thanks to everyone who helped make this sale materialize and being a part of “America’s Genetic Foundation for a Profitable Sheep Industry”!
