My Entrepreneurial Quest for Glory

Once upon a time, there were four young aspiring entrepreneurs who made it their mission to better the world with an innovation that would revolutionize the open market. They failed. Forward.

The process began, as many do, at the beginning, with the recognition of a problem that many Americans face every year, nay! Every day. The problem of tires, tires that slip on ice. So, these four entrepreneurs went down the winding and treacherous path known as “Customer Validation” and on the way encountered many obstacles. There were terrors! Dangers! But there was also a treasure to be found. That treasure is the niche market. But lo! The treasure was guarded by a fierce and terrible dragon. The dragon’s fiery breath vulcanized the rubber of the very tires that this group of adventurers was trying to produce. And before they could slay the dragon, they found that the market for tires that prevent slipping on ice was not nearly large enough for the entrepreneurs to achieve their primary goal. They could not profit from it.

So they fled the scene! Leaving what they had initially believed to be a bounty of wealth but had turned out to be a castle that was already owned by an evil dictator, Goodyear Rubber.

And from there the entrepreneurs pursued a more economically advantageous endeavor. They soon realized that while they were traveling, all of their cellphones had dropped dead. They fell on their faces and mourned their losses. But! do not fear, for they were innovators! Creators! Entrepreneurs! And they soon realized that their loss was not for naught.

They began to devise an ingenious plan, a means to charge their phones by the power of their own two feet. The would use the energy derived from pedaling a bicycle to power their phones! After conducting market research and validating their assumptions, they were able to hypothesize a means of manual phone charging that would fully charge their phone with only 20 minutes of continuous pedaling. How convenient as that is the average length of a bicycle commute to the standard workplace!

They slaved and slaved away for two weeks and finally were able to design a product that achieved exactly what they wanted for half the price of the top competitor! They sang and danced and rejoiced in their miraculous findings and brought electric power and battery longevity throughout the land. And, as the group of four bodacious entrepreneurs pedaled off into the sunset, they all lived happily ever after.

About Me

My Name is Evan Shaw and I am a Freshman at The Ohio State University. Here at OSU, I’m getting involved with a plethora of classes, clubs, and activities. As an undecided major in University Exploration, I’m taking general education classes during my first semester, however, I am really enjoying my political  science class and may want to declare a PoliSci major. Definitely not 100% sure.

I am a member of several clubs on campus. Even though it is only the beginning of my fourth week on campus, I am an active participant in Hillel, the Jewish student union, as well as a group called Buckeyes for Israel (BFI), and a community service based acting group called Off the Lake (OTL). Additionally, I am pitching an idea for the BOSS competition, an entrepreneurship competition here at OSU.

I love singing and music, and I have been acting for nearly 10 years. I love to read when I have time and just generally have a good time. I’m really excited for all of the new opportunities that I have at OSU.

Go bucks!
