Columbus Adventure with Peer Leader Group

Our HES Group decided to test our eating abilities and visit MELT Bar and Grilled in the exciting short north. We all selected our massively oversized meals off the menu, and I got a half of the Mighty Macoroni. Not to anyone’s surprise I couldn’t finish it. But one of the group members ordered a whole meal and somehow finished it! He later expressed how it is a personal goal of his to be able to consume everything put forth before him. These were the types of bonding experiences we all had. We learned something new about each other, we got to know each others personalities a little more, and we got to connect over some really good food! It was a blast to both get to even better know our peers, learn about one of our peers we otherwise wouldn’t hang out with, and open ourselves up to getting close with others. If anyone does not yet had the opportunity to take there stomach too battle the large portions of MELT Bar and Grilled, I highly recommend it. And the food for SURE won’t disappoint.

Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, Short North–Saturday, October 7th, 2017

Everyone has a soft spot for Ice Cream. Some call it their “Cheat Meal” where its an excuse to break from their strictest diet. But if their was a superior cheat ice cream option, Jeni’s in Columbus is the place to spend it! Their ice cream is so creamy, smooth and sweet! The flavors are unique, such as the limited edition ones such as Xocorosa (Jalapeño Chocolate) and they are truly a flavor to try. But for those wishing to try a more conservative simple flavor, the Black Cat Expresso is a MUST! If you are driving for a Long distance and want bring Jeni’s back to where you call home, free dry ice and an insulated bag are complimentary with the purchase of two or more pints! Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream is a must have in Columbus.

Condado’s Tacos, Short North–Friday, October 20th, 2017

Mexican food often becomes influence by the American taste. I am always seeking out the authentic Mexican Restaurant. Condado’s on High Street in the Short North not only allows you to have some truly authentic Mexican Food, but enjoy it in a fun, loud, and hopin’ environment. The food was not the spice level I was desiring that evening, but did not fail to pack a punch in the flavor. The unique ordering format – though intimidating at first – allows you to be able to get whatever item you desire to eat. Condado’s is definitely a must for individuals who want to enjoy a great taco in a unique environment.

Football Games:

Being at THE Ohio State University means cheering on the hometown Buckeyes! I love joining forces with my fellow buckeyes and using our passion to have fun and be entertained by the greatness of our classmates performing on the field. The passion of the fans and the team illustrates how much dedication we apply to our goals and what energy we have available to use. It demonstrates through a fun, exciting, and exhilarating medium how we can use our skills to achieve our academic goals, no matter the difficulty, or the competitiveness. All buckeyes are competitive and passionate, and that’s not just in the shoe.

Traveling

Among the things that I partook in High School, I gained the most insight from immersing myself in other cultures and visiting new places. It allows me to understand the perspective of there people, and also learn so many amazing things about other places which have wonderful unique beauties. While I travelled, I also really enjoy doing the unique activities of the new place whether its wind surfing, hiking, local dancing, cave tubing, or riding camels. I am excited to gain additional worldly experiences during and after college.

Columbus To-Do List – Part 1

MUST Have Food in Columbus:

  • Eden Burger, University District
  • Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, Short North (Borrowed from Ice Cream Catagory)
  • Condado’s Tacos, Short North

Food is something that really drove me to select the Ohio State University. Given that it is located in a large diverse metropolis, such as Columbus, it offers a broad array of excellent, world class dining options. Ice cream is also a food item in my mind, so my list consists of both ice cream and typical food options. I really grateful as this assignment will really prove to be a catalyst when it comes to beginning the exploration of delicious food!

Eden Burger, University District–Thursday, October 5th, 2017

Being a vegetarian for life because I am Jain, this was a great choice. The food was absolutely Amazing!!! I loved how they combined many spices with the sweet. I had selected the BBQ Southwestern burger and organic, sustainable root beer. I would recommend this to anyone even if they don’t have dairy/meat eating restrictions. The ambiance of the place as also extremely unique. From the kindness and quirky nature of the man taking the orders to the charisma of the server, the place truly has a personality to remember! I will definitely be going back soon with even more friends!
