About Me

My name is Madeline Shaffer and I am a first year, pre chemical engineering major. I choose this because I love chemistry and I am in general pretty good at math. I finished high school with 2.5 credits of chemistry alone. I also had experience with chemistry in Science Olympiad and I was  a teacher helper (I helped the teacher prepare her classes and graded papers) for an honors chemistry class my senior year.

I hope that while I’m at Ohio State I can earn a degree in Chemical Engineering. My favorite section of chemistry is light and color so I’m hoping that maybe I can do something with that. I am thinking about possibly getting an MBA to further my education although one of the reasons i choose engineering was because I don’t need to go to graduate school to work in the field.

I love music even though I cannot play an instrument to save my life. I even traveled eight hours to see my favorite band this pass summer. I was born and raised in the Catholic church. I am from the central Ohio area and have lived here all my life. My favorite food is pickles and it’s not rare to see me eating them.image2
