Artifacts
One of my greater accomplishments this semester was winning a Roku at Idea Fest. Idea Fest was a 2 day straight business plan competition in which teams created both a product and business plan that was presented to experienced business leaders at Ohio State. The skills I learned about how a company goes about marketing and advertising a product were outstanding. I had never had such riveting hands on experience. It was nice to get back what I put into this competition, and to earn a prize at the end was very satisfying. I hope to do more business competitions, so I can learn more about the business world from an entrepreneurial side, as that is something I am interested in as a student at Ohio State.
About Me
Hello,
My name is Matthew Shaffer, and I am finance major from Sharon Massachusetts. Coming to Ohio State, I wanted to get very involved. I was very involved with academics and extracurriculars in high school, and will stay as involved here at Ohio State. My interests outside of the classroom include sports and movies. Being from Massachusetts, it is hard to not be a sports fan. I grew up learning all about the Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics, and Bruins. Not only do I like watching sports, but I love staying active and playing them as well. I was always playing baseball when I was younger, and was even close to going to college for baseball. Other than sports, I love movies. I have seen over 1,500 films and can tell you everything about each and every one. Movies to me are like art, and I would love to get a film minor if I could at Ohio State. In the future I hope to gain leadership positions on campus and become more than just a number at such a large school. I want to take advantage of the opportunities at hand.
