Project Statement

This project is a stop-motion illustrated abstraction of a song. My goal is to morph abstracted shapes together in a fluid motion to match the tempo of the song. Each of the shapes and colors relate to one aspect of the song.  I chose simple shapes so they could be repeated several times without frustration in creation. Each of the shapes morph into another form, with purple as the main color. Movement was my main principle, as well as emphasis shown through size of the shapes when they pause on the beat drop.  The composition as a whole is slowly retreating into the distance to make the drop seem higher and more surprising. The yellow triangle shows the surprise in the song as yellow deviates from the rest of the cool tones, curved shapes.

Reflection

Thinking ahead is always in your best interest.  I learned how to work in the most efficient manner after extensive tests of movement and timing. I had many ideas for the transitions and I had to visual test all of them before I could decide with one was best. I looked at all aspects of each transition, the speed, the preparation time, and the visual appeal of the outcome. Once I decided, I worked much faster due to the practice I had from testing and because the transition method was the fastest and easiest for me. The rest of the process went much smoother from these decisions. In the future, I’ll be sure to test all considered methods and compare them based on my needs for a project. I know it will help me be much more efficient.
