2D to 3D

Project Statement

I never had a clear goal with this project and I regret that. I scraped together a few simple shapes and combined them into an even simpler shape, which is unlike me. Usually, I like to put my heart and soul into projects, not the bare minimum. I’m very disappointed in myself for the lack of motivation and the pitiful outcome. For the final piece, I decided to combine two of my more simple shapes because my 3rd shape wasn’t built to the same scale as the first two and I knew it would be difficult to try and incorporate it. I made something new and top heavy; I knew it would be top heavy and I thought it would be funny so that’s another reason I chose that shape. For my alterations, I wanted to go crazy so I did. Since it was near Halloween, I wanted to do something creepy and I believe I accomplished that. My outcome reflects exactly what I imagined when I began the altercations. The outcome was just what I wanted but my basic shape was disappointing.

Reflection

I learned more about the basics and the structural templates of all basic geometric shapes. This knowledge helped me with projects in the future. Overall,  I had a lot of fun with the end of this project, and when I have fun with a project, I usually express a larger amount of creativity and out of the box thinking. I was under challenged with my simple shape so the process wasn’t as interesting but I still think my outcome is really cool. I learned how to work with what I have and I discovered the ability to turn the simplest shapes into crazy, insane ideas. I was interested to see how this project turns out because of the imperfections in the alterations and if my risky choice to challenge the expectations will pay off. I was timely challenged again, I didn’t finish my altercations by class time, but the afternoon and night it was due. This was a huge letdown for me because one of my favorite parts of each project is to let others see your work and compare between your classmates. I knew my idea was way different than anyone else’s, because its completely out of the box and it was a mix between the 3 choices of altercations. I learned once again to spend more time on the basics so that the outcome can be incredible. I am wasting my potential and it killing me to see these finished projects that I know could’ve been so much more.
