This is the final stage of chicha. One of the Acllas duties was to make chicha, or maize beer. The Inca believed spices added flavor to their food and drink. Chicha was their main drink for religious sacrificial purposes.
This Alcoholic Beverage was used in many religious ceremonies. Chicha was commonly used as a sacrificial substance to the Inca gods ( p. 142,143,147,150.McEwan). I believe chicha evolved into modern day whiskey or moonshine that is also a corn based alcohol. Present day relevance would be the taking on communion in christian churches of today.
This shows the ingredients put into making chicha. This liquor was offered at sunrise and sunset to the sun god. The wives of the sun said ” Sun eat this food that your wives cooked for you.” ( p.188.Abbott).
