Federalist Style Paper Essay

Unfortunately, I do not believe that there is any way for us to change Congressional apportionment in the House because it is hard to make it fair for smaller states. For example, it wouldn’t be fair for a small state in the sense that their population would be too small for them to get representatives in the House. I feel as though the way we currently have it is fair regardless of population because it was set up in a way that would represent all states equally instead of going based on population. If it were based on the population that would make it really hard for some states to voice their opinion and I think it is wrong for a smaller state not to have as much say in government when they are valid as well. Though, the only thing I would change is giving DC a chance to voice their opinion. In my eyes, not everyone is a government lives there and it is wrong for that area not to be able to have representation solely because our main government functions take place there. I think it isn’t fair for the citizens of DC and it should be changed. Although, our territories should get one representative per place as they play a key role in our society too. I believe in fairness and the only way to make this happen would be to provide representation to DC and other U.S territories but keeping representative numbers the same per state as it keeps it a fair system.

Interview

In my interview, I wanted to get the scope on PSL and how to succeed in it along with other factors.

1. How did you hear about PSL?
She says that when applying for osu, the common app had her rank her top choices for scholars and her poly sci major made it the natural choice.

2. When did you know that PSL was something you wanted to be apart of?
After being in there the scholars program, according to Anya it helps orient herself with others of the same interests since osu is so large it was nice to see familiar faces.

3. What would you suggest for first year PSLers as they attend meetings?
She says that the meetings are unofficially mandatory she says “go to them not obligations but opportunities” as Kevin brings in many speakers for us to interact with.

4. What is the best way to engage during PSL events?
To her, at the end of a long Tuesday she suggests to sit near the front as it forces you to interact.

She suggests to look into student organizations that hold events that are interesting to you and keep up with them by subscribing to emails, social media, etc. also scan the emails!
7. What is the best way to manage everything during exams?
She says time management will help instead of keeping it in the back of your mind and fitting in free time to reflect.
