Welcome back, everybody! With the NWS Wilmington, OH trip on Friday and Memorial Day observed on Monday, forecasting operations were briefly ceased in observance of those activities and holidays, respectively. However, it is now Wednesday, and we are back forecasting the weather! Click the following link to see your latest S&G forecast: https://u.osu.edu/sgwx/forecast-discussions/.
Happy Wednesday! Winter is coming quite early to Ohio! It appears snowflakes have made it into the forecast, and there appears to be a cold air outbreak looming beyond the weekend into next week. Typically in these situations, there tends to be a snow threat that accompanies any arctic front, so we will continue to monitor any chances for snow over the coming days! It is officially FRIDAY! Also, it is the first of NOVEMBER, but it feels more like the first of December. The high temperature for November 1, 2019 at John Glenn International Airport was 44°F with a low temperature of 32°F. Continued cool weather is expected to be the forecast regime. Attention then turns to NEXT weekend (November 9-10). Early indications suggest that a very strong trough will plow down into the United States and open the gateway of cold, Canadian air. While the details are still up in the air, early indications point to the strong possibility of high temperatures in the 30s next weekend with low temperatures well down into the 20s. Some rural locations might hit the 10s if the coldest solutions were to verify. Continue to check back with S&G on this developing weather situation over the course of the next several days!

We made it to Friday, everyone! I hope you had a wonderful, productive work week and ready for the OSU versus Wisconsin game tomorrow! Now, we know who is going to win (clearly Ohio State), but our weather will NOT be a winner. Attached is the current satellite picture of around 5:15 PM on Friday, October 25th, 2019 that is depicting a very large synoptic-scale system. In technical terms, there are two storm systems that will merge: one is Tropical Storm Olga, and the other one is over the south-central Great Plains. A merger will occur, and the combined low-pressure system will move upward into the Ohio Valley and bring heavy rain. It is entirely possible that Columbus could have their wettest day tomorrow in nearly 6 months! For those who are going to the OSU game tomorrow, I STRONGLY suggest you to bring any and all of your rain gear as you will be soaked if you leave it at home. GO BUCKEYES!!!! #BEATWISCONSIN!!!
