SGT at OSU Gets New Faculty Adviser

SGT at OSU this month wishes to welcome its new faculty adviser, Dr. John Horack, Neil Armstrong Chair in Aerospace Policy and a professor in both the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and the John Glenn School of Public Affairs. This affiliation with Dr. Horack provides SGT at OSU with access to exciting new resources that will allow SGT to expand its activities in the aerospace community. This move brings SGT under the wing of the OSU Battelle Center, which offers a variety of resources for Ohio State’s engineering and policy communities. Learn more at http://www.battellecenter.org/.

SGT at OSU wishes to thank its outgoing faculty adviser, Dr. James Gregory, for his time and support over the years.

SGT at OSU Hosts 2018 OSU Aerospace Banquet

On April 12, 2018, the Ohio State chapter of Sigma Gamma Tau, in partnership with OSU AIAA and the Buckeye Space Launch Initiative, hosted the 2018 Ohio State Aerospace Banquet in Hanger 5 at The Ohio State University Airport. This year’s annual celebration of aerospace engineering at Ohio State brought together students from throughout the Aerospace community at Ohio State as well as several professors. Attendees also had the opportunity to hear from this year’s special guest presenter, OSU Aerospace alumni Dr. George Pantalos, who shared his work on space surgery and stories of meeting Tom Hanks and the cast of Apollo 13 on a research flight.

SGT at OSU wishes to thank all that attended and helped to put on this event for making this wonderful evening possible.

SGT at OSU Hosts First “Paper” Airplane Contest

This week SGT at OSU hosted a glider-building contest in Scott Laboratory at The Ohio State University open to any interested student. Participants built their craft from materials including paper and balsa wood under a time limit and then went into the Scott Lab courtyard to test their creations. Participants also enjoyed pizza courtesy of SGT. Gliders were judged based on the maximum distance achieved through three trial flights, and the top finishers were rewarded with prizes. SGT at OSU wishes to congratulate the winners and all of our participants!
