MT1 Review Session

SGT has successfully hosted its first fully online AAE 2200 Review session! Despite the obstacles introduced by distance learning, SGT is still fully committed to helping provide academic support for members of Ohio State’s Aerospace Engineering major. Review sessions will be continued throughout the academic year, with special emphasis being placed on the sophomore aerospace classes. The aim of this focus is to aid current pre-majors in their transition to becoming full-fledged members of the MAE department. In regards to resource materials for current AAE 2200 students, the review materials for MT1 from this year and last year can be found in the ‘Resources for Students’ tab, under the ‘Resources’ banner.

2200 MT1 Review

SGT hosted its first review session of the semester this afternoon. Members of the group went over concepts and problems with students from Aero 2200 to help prepare them for their first ever aerospace midterm. Topics covered included basic units, equations of steady, level flight, hydrostatics, and the standard atmosphere! Some basic Aero test taking advice was also doled out, since the 2200 students have not yet taken a midterm in an aerospace class.

SGT@OSU Hosts 2019 Aerospace Banquet-A Celebration of Aerospace at Ohio State

On Thursday, April 4, along with partner organizations AIAA and Buckeye Space Launch Initiative, SGT@OSU hosted the 2019 Ohio State Aerospace Banquet at the brand-new Knowlton Flight Center at The Ohio State University Airport. SGT officially welcomed 11 new members at the banquet, and along with our partner organizations discussed our accomplishments from the past year. The 2019 Aerospace Professor of the Year was also announced to be Dr. John Horack, who among many roles, also serves as the SGT faculty advisor.

This year SGT@OSU was pleased to welcome Dr. Elizabeth Newton, Director of the Battelle Center for Science, Engineering, and Public Policy at Ohio State as its Distinguished Guest Speaker. Dr. Newton gave an enlightening talk on her wide-ranging career and the intersections of public policy and engineering, as well as her advice to engineering students. SGT@OSU Hosts AAE 2201 Review Session and Discussion Session

On March 21, members of SGT@OSU hosted another review session for AAE 2201 Introduction to Aerospace Engineering II students at Ohio State. Members answered questions and presented practice problems and conceptual reviews to help prepare students for their midterm on concepts of spaceflight and orbital mechanics. Review materials, including a review packet containing much of the information discussed, can be found at our Resources for Students page. Hard copies of the review packets used to guide these sessions are also posted in the Battelle Center in Page Hall as soon as they become available. The session was again well attended  and many students were able to have questions answered on a variety of aerospace topics. SGT@OSU also hosted its first informal discussion session before Spring Break. These sessions allow students to ask questions in a more informal environment with the goal of getting basic questions answered earlier so we can focus on other areas of concern during the main review session. All AAE 2201 students or those interested in learning more about introductory aerospace concepts are welcome to attend. To provide feedback or learn more, please email sgt.osu@gmail.com.

SGT@OSU Hosts First AAE 2201 Review Session

On February 7, members of SGT@OSU hosted a review session for AAE 2201 Introduction to Aerospace Engineering II students at Ohio State. Members answered questions and presented practice problems and conceptual reviews to help prepare students for their midterm on concepts of aircraft stability. Review materials, including a review packet containing much of the information discussed, can be found at our Resources for Students page. The session was well attended and SGT hopes to present more review sessions for midterms and general questions throughout the semester and beyond. SGT at OSU Hosts AAE 2200 Final Review

As part of its goal to provide academic services to new aerospace students at Ohio State, members of SGT at OSU hosted a review session for students taking AAE 2200 Introduction to Aerospace Engineering. This review session was the first step in the SGT plan to re-engage in tutoring and review sessions for introductory aerospace classes at Ohio State. SGT members answered questions from students and presented practice problems to give students another opportunity to see the material before their final. This is intended to be the first of several review sessions coinciding with AAE 2200/2201 exams this year and provided some key lessons that will allow SGT to improve tutoring and review sessions in the future. SGT wishes to thank all in attendance, and all comments to help us improve future review sessions can be directed to sgt.osu@gmail.com.
