Opportunities with Age Friendly Innovation Center

Launched in Autumn 2021, the AFIC Scholars program brings together an interdisciplinary cohort of students for a mix of educational, experiential, and service learning related to aging and the aging network. You can learn more program in our overview video, Age-Friendly Scholars Video.  Students are paid an hourly rate for up to 10 hours a week of work over Autumn semester. This opportunity is open to both undergraduate and graduate students in any degree program at OSU. Students would have an opportunity to be involved in our LGBTQ+ Friendly Aging work.

LGBTQ+ Inclusive Aging

Webinar on Supporting LGBTQ+ Inclusive Aging Networks

Join the ACL-funded National Resource Center on LGBTQ+ Aging (a project of SAGE) and AgeOptions Thrive with Pride for an “office hours” webinar celebrating LGBTQ+ Pride Month.

The webinar will feature a discussion on LGBTQ+ inclusive programs and outreach and is intended for area agencies on aging, aging and disability resource centers, centers for independent living, ombudsman programs, Senior Medicare Patrol programs, State Health Insurance Assistance Programs, Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act (MIPPA) programs, and community centers serving older adults.

Mini Research Day and Mixer

Come hear about the exciting work being done by many sexual and gender minority researchers from across campus. We’ll have brief introductions to their research and plenty of time for questions. Afterward, stick around for some social time including light snacks and beverages. Faculty, staff, and students are all welcome!

We are excited to announce a call for abstracts for the 9th National LGBTQ Health Conference, which will be held in Atlanta on August 15 – 17, 2024.

Please submit your abstract through our online portal by March 1, 2024.

Authors can choose to have their abstracts considered for a poster presentation or live oral presentation when submitting. Presentations will be selected by the conference’s abstract review committee.
