My G.O.A.L.S.

With my time left at OSU, like every other student, I hope to cram as much living in as possible. These are my goals that I believe will help me achieve that:

G- I’m hoping to participate in a MedLife service trip next year where I can hopefully go abroad.
O- I’d like to participate in research, specifically in human nutrition which also happens to be my major. A- I want to improve my style of learning so that I can achieve the best grades possible while also understanding the material.
L- As a member of Health Sciences Scholars I’m looking forward to helping my mentee and as our family lead I hope to guide our little makeshift family and build a supportive environment conducive to their success as first years.
S- Service has always been something I’ve enjoyed, but I’ve never found just one organization to build a relationship with. I’m hoping that I will find one that inspires me and that I can create a lasting change with.

Year in Review

This past year has shown me a lot about who I am and who I can become. I’ve seen myself at my best, achieving things I never thought I could, and I’ve seen myself hit low points where I wasn’t sure if I could pick myself back up. I got a letter around the middle of second semester. It was from me, a year before. I can honestly say that I cried when I read it.

I cried tears of joy because in that letter was hope for myself. Hope that I could grow as a person and give others the love I dream of giving. I had completely forgot that I wrote that letter, and yet somehow I managed to grow into exactly what I wanted to be. Sure I accomplished a lot of service, got pretty good grades, and tried a lot of new things, but what I’m most proud of is my growth as a friend and person.

Artifacts

One artifact I obtained this year was a pair of gardening gloves. I spent a day winterizing a garden that produced food for the undernourished in the area. In the middle of my first year of college, really helped my clear my head. It’s easy for me to overthink and stress myself out and I’ve come to realize that if I can get that stress out in a constructive way I can get academic work done more efficiently and I feel better about myself.

About Me

Hello! My name is Anna Sears. I am currently a first year student in the College of Education and Human Ecology. I am majoring in Human Nutrition, Pre-Med. I went to St. Francis de Sales for high school and grew up in Columbus most of my life. I was captain of the swim team for both my junior and senior year, and I graduated with the language department medal for mandarin. I was also a member of NHS and Chinese NHS.

After undergraduate I hope to continue onto medical school. I would like to become a surgeon. It’s my dream to complete my residency somewhere amazing (preferably San Diego or Hawaii).

When it comes to hobbies, I prefer the arts. I love painting, drawing, sculpting, cooking, and reading. I played a couple different instruments growing up and also participated in dance and theatre. I even had a brief stint as a singer in the second and third grade- nursing homes love cute little kids. I do love to stay active too. I played just about every sport and ended up settling on swimming. It was always such a great environment for me. It taught me many life lessons, the most important probably being the ability to take constructive criticism well.
