ADEA AADSAS
You apply to dental school through a generalized portal called ADEA AADSAS. This is similar to Common App, which most use to apply to college. There are four sections: Personal Information, Academic History, Supporting Information, and Program Materials. During the 2022-2023 cycle, it cost applicants $264 to apply to the first school and $115 for each additional school. The cycle opened May 10th and the first day applicants could submit their application was June 1st. The earlier you submit your application, the better.

You will add experiences in this section. Each experience must fit under one of the following categories: Academic Enrichment, Dental Experience, Dental Shadowing (In-Person), Dental Shadowing (Virtual), Employment, Extracurricular Activities, Research, Volunteer. Find the link under “Experiences section of the AADSAS application.” After entering all of your information, you will select up to 6 experiences to highlight as the most important.
You will add achievements in this section. You will then select up to 4 achievements to highlight as the most important.
You will add any licenses in this section. If you do not have any, that is perfectly normal!
Lastly, you will add your personal statement, which addresses the following prompt: Please explain why you want to pursue a dental career (4500 character limit).
Program Materials
This is the last section. You will add programs you are interested in. Each university is different, but most will ask you to answer short-essay questions in this section. Almost all universities also require you to select prerequisite courses you have completed/plan to complete from your transcript entry.
