For our final project, we wanted to create a game that was entertaining and that can be replayed. With our numerous brainstorming ideas, we settled upon the Blackjack game. Although Blackjack may be a simple game, the logic behind winning is very complex. For example, there are so many possible combinations to get to 21, but there is a strategy to when you should “hit” or “stay” depending on other players and the dealer. This aspect is what makes the game so entertaining and addicting to play. The drive to beat those around you while also gaining lots of money is exhilarating!
Other ideas we had for a game are:
- Asteroid Dodge- Player must move horizontally to escape falling asteroids.
- Space Invaders Twist – Instead of moving horizontally, the player will move vertically. This player will be protecting the castle from invaders. He/She can fly up or down and shoot fireballs at the incoming invaders.
- Flappy Bird 2.0 – Have a bird dodge incoming obstacles.
- Jetpack Joyride? – Player continuously moves forward (to the right) while avoiding collisions with objects.
