G.O.A.L.S.

Global Awareness: During my time at Ohio State I hope to strengthen my global and cultural awareness. I desire to study abroad especially in a country with a very different culture than that of the United States. I would like the opportunity to visit a spanish speaking country, in particular, so I can further my communication skills of this language. Additionally, I believe that my minor in history will help further my understanding of the world by learning about the origins and progression of problems that still exist in the world today.

Original Inquiry: My major is currently astrophysics and one of my goals it to get involved with research within this field. I hope to study supernovae in particular and make new discoveries about the intricacies of how stars meet their end. I also believe this goal can be reached outside of this particular type of research. I hope to find classes that will allow me to do my own independent evaluation and synthesis and this could apply to a multitude of subjects.

Academic Enrichment: I hope to take full advantage of all the opportunities to improve my academic excellence while at Ohio State. I hope to enrich myself with honors and upper division classes that will challenge the way I think. I also believe that getting involved with research will improve my academic excellence by pushing me to process very specific information and by pushing my to be creative and think of new and more efficient ways of accomplishing tasks.

Leadership Development: I am currently a floor representative on the Taylor Tower hall council and my position is to help plan events for the residence hall. This opportunity will almost definitely increase my leadership skills. I am responsible for asking residents what types of events they want to see and working hard with the other members of my hall council to plan and put together fun activities.

Service Engagement: My experience with Taylor Tower Hall council can in a way also be commitment to service to my peers in the residence all. However, looking with a broader scope into the community, I hope to get involved with students in the community. I hope to find an outreach that’s will allow me to work with young children bring them into the world of science. I think this is extremely important and I hope it will inspire children to not only to get involved with science but to be interesting in discovery.
