Year in Review

[ “Year in Review”  is where you should reflect on the past year and show how you have evolved as a person and as a student.  You may want to focus on your growth in a particular area (as a leader, scholar, researcher, etc.) or you may want to talk about your overall experience over the past year.  For more guidance on using your ePortfolio, including questions and prompts that will help you get started, please visit the Honors & Scholars ePortfolio course in Carmen. G.O.A.L.S.

  • Global Awareness: My current involvement in Collegiate Council on World Affairs and Model United Nations exposes me to international affairs and helps me better understand the interactions between people around the world. In addition, in my economics studies, I have a special interest in international trade and will likely pursue a career in that field of economics.
  • Original Inquiry: Part of what I like about econ0mics is the wide range of research available. There’s experimental economics that studies the way that humans behave. In addition, there is historical research that investigates historical economic trends and uses that to predict the future. I have interest in both of these areas but am inclined towards the historical research.
  • Academic Enrichment: I’m planning on continuing to take honors level classes. In addition, I’ll be adding a math minor to enrich my study of economics and prepare me for higher level coursework in the field.
  • Leadership Development: I’ve already joined the membership committee for Collegiate Council on World Affairs and taken on an editing position for Algers, the international affairs magazine. I will also be on the lookout for leadership opportunities as I go on.
  • Service Engagement: I’ve joined Off the Lake, a service-based theatre program through which I’ll be involved in a lot of service opportunities.
