Year in Review

[ “Year in Review”  is where you should reflect on the past year and show how you have evolved as a person and as a student.  You may want to focus on your growth in a particular area (as a leader, scholar, researcher, etc.) or you may want to talk about your overall experience over the past year.  For more information, go to: http://honors-scholars.osu.edu/e-portfolio. Leadership development

At the Ohio State University I plan on using my past experiences as a leader to help drive my leadership development forward as I take on new tasks and new positions at the university. In high school I was active in my Boy Scout Troop and served a term as assistant senior patrol leader and assisted in both planning and running Troop meetings and activities. In August of 2016 I was promoted to the Kings Island Supervisory team and served as a supervisor for the games department. I was in charge of making sure my area by running area operations, working with associates, solving guest problems, fixing the displays, and communicating with my partners so that our area was running at maximum performance. While at the Ohio State University I hope to use the experiences to aid me as I further my involvement in clubs and activities as well as search for employment.

Academic Enrichment

As a mechanical engineering student, academics are among the highest of my priorities.

Career

[“Career” is where you can collect information about your experiences and skills that will apply to your future career.  Like your resume, this is information that will evolve over time and should be continually updated.   For more information, go to: http://honors-scholars.osu.edu/e-portfolio. GES Presentation Fall 2016

This presentation was done with a group including two other fellow students and focuses on comparing the two types of battery acid used in electric cars. The purpose for this research was to try and gain an understanding of how electric cars work and how they can compete with current gas powered cars. The results of our research showed that lead acid batteries perform better than lithium acid batteries and have the ability to recharge faster. Electric cars have become more relevant as the cost of production has gone down and the capabilities of the electric powered cars can sufficiently match competitors. The biggest issue still facing electric powered cars is the range capabilities and according to the research, lead acid batteries not only have a larger range, but have a rapid recharge capability so they can charge at a must faster rate.

About Me

graduation-pic

My name is Adam Schutte, and I am from Cincinnati, Ohio. I graduated from St. Xavier High School with honors in May of 2016. While attending St. Xavier High School I was involved with the swim team where I swam varsity sophomore through senior year, as well as the engineering club, and senior leadership team. I was also very involved with my Boy Scout Troop and served a term as assistant senior patrol leader before I earned the rank of Eagle Scout in May 2016. I spent my summers working at Kings Island amusement park starting in the games department in September 2014, then working as a lifeguard in Soak City during 2015, then returning to the games department for summer 2016 where I earned a promotion to supervisor in August.

At the Ohio State University I am currently a freshman studying mechanical engineering. While at Ohio State I am involved with the Green Engineering Scholars program, and I am involved with the Theme Park engineering group. Currently I am working with a group of students to create and build a model of a theme park attraction themed to Ohio State. I enjoy working with the theme park industry and I am looking to get more involved and learn more about the theme park industry. I enjoy hands on activities and labs where I get to apply what I learned in the classroom to a practical application.
