Career

I have learned more than I would have ever imagined during my crazy fast first semester here on campus at The Ohio State University. Not only have I experienced a challenging academic agenda, I have gained knowledge about the numerous resources on campus at my disposal and I have learned a great deal about myself. The tremendous transition from high school to college from an academic standpoint was very eye opening. I was used to doing very well in school with minimal effort, so the adjustments that needed to be made this year were abundant. I learned that I do best studying in quiet places like the library and the study rooms in the dorms. I concentrate better when I am not in my room because there are minimal distractions when in a designated study space. Through the scholars program and the exploration seminar I have decided to follow the career path to become a physician assistant. I turned to a number of resources while looking for the right major for me such as the Health Sciences Majors Fair, What Can I Do With a Major In…, and the Senior Bank. I have decided to pursue the exercise science major because it leads to a decent job right after undergraduate education, and is a good stepping stone for graduate school. While doing well in school and staying focused on academics is important, I have realized that staying in shape and maintaining social relationships are equally essential. Although my fitness schedule can be loose at times, I try to go to the RPAC at least 4 times a week. I have built in running as part of my coping strategy for stress and often go to the gym when I need a break from studying. I think working out to reduce is a great tactic because it promotes both physical and mental health. Additionally, I really enjoy the time I spend with my floor mates and all the friends I have made this semester. Finding a good group of friends to hang out and relax with is essential to having the best college experience possible. In the future semesters at Ohio State, I hope to continue building relationships with my peers, faulty members, and all staff members of the university.
