Year in Review

This time last year, I would say I was a totally different person for many reasons. For one, I was not even sure yet where I wanted to go to college, but I knew Ohio State was one of my favorites if I got accepted. I was much more comfortable in my high school environment, mainly because I was with people I had known since kindergarten in a class of less than 80 people. By the time I was graduating, I was ready to venture out of that comfort zone. Senior year was a rollercoaster ride which included some of the best times of my life, highlighted by qualifying the for the state track meet in the spring. The moment that I received the acceptance letter from OSU, I knew that was where I wanted to spend the next four years of my life. Over the summer, I had a real job for the first time in my life with a landscaping company in my neighborhood, Dream Team Landscaping. This built a lot of character because of the difficult work that it included, as well as some important leadership skills because it prepared me for the responsibilities that would come with college. Being a part of the Biological Sciences Scholars has been a great advantage for me since school has started this fall because it places me around peers with similar majors and career plans. It did not take very long to realize that college is going to require quite a bit more time than high school, and it has caused me to make an adjustment and truly become a scholar. I enjoy the uncomfortable feeling that came with the first couple of weeks at Ohio State, because me stepping out of my comfort zone has now lead to a good academic start to the semester, as well friendships with countless new friends.
