I am Justin Scales, and I grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio. There, I attended a Catholic high school and Catholic grade school, both of which had excellent science programs. I believe that my early exposure to STEM had led me onto the path to being a STEM Scholar at Ohio State from a very early age. Today, I am working toward achieving a degree in physics, as well as participating in the STEM Scholars program.
It finally hit me in 2012, during first-year biology class in high school, that I was destined to become a STEM major. Not only did I love the concepts covered, but the way that the topics explained other things that I had experienced in life. Seeing how much of the world is interconnected is, in my opinion, what is great about a STEM path in life. This became more apparent when I participated in AP Environmental Science, which demonstrated the interconnectedness of the environment around us.
