Dr. Sayre’s general interest is in applied polymer engineering science – the application of scientific principles across various disciplines to solve problems enabled by polymers. This requires in-depth knowledge of polymer and composite development and processing. Currently, his major research focus is in developing polymer binders, electrolytes, and electrode structures for solid-state Li-ion batteries (energy storage) and polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells (energy conversion).
