G.O.A.L.S.

On Sunday October 28th, I went to one of the coffee houses on the Columbus to do list. I went to Kafe Kerouac. It was a cafe a little north of campus and it is filled with a variety of books. The specials are named after different authors and they have a room with a bookshelf filled with books. It was a quiet cafe, it seems like a good place to get a cup of coffee and study. I most enjoyed the reading the names of the different types of coffees, and I least enjoyed the amount of time I had to be in the cafe. I wish I had more time to enjoy the cafe and look through/ read a few books. Next time I go out to do a to do list item, I think that I will do an activity. It will be fun to do an activity to further bond with my fellow HES members. I think Kafe Kerouac is a good place to go to either study or relax with a good book

Columbus To do List 2

On November 18, I went to Piada Italian Street Food with Maria and Miho at Easton. During my time their I got to look around Easton. It was a lovely outdoor mall that was covered in lights for the holiday season. I enjoyed the food at Piada. I got one of the Piadas, and it was really good. I enjoyed being able to hang out with my fellow HES members at this location. The only thing that did not enjoy was the fact that it was cold that day and Easton is all outdoors. I learned that their is many different places to go around Columbus, and it is really fun to explore those places with friends. I think next time I would invite more people to come along, so that they can enjoy the experience with us. I would definitely go back to Piada. The food was good and the employees and the automosphere was pleasent. I would suggest it to anyone who likes Italian food to go to Piada

Artifacts

A major part of my high school experience has been through marching band. I joined marching band my sophomore year of high school as a cymbal player and by the time I was a senior I played the  base drum. Being a member of the marching band involved a lot of responsibility. It was up to every individual member of the band to learn their part and know their marks in order for the final formation to turn out just right. It really showed me what it is like to work together as a team and to encourage each other on to be the best performers that we could be.

Artifact 2:

During the Autumn semester of my freshman year, I went to a presentation where we painted pots and learned about idenities. I had fun painting the pot. I feel that this plant really reflects on my personality. First of all the pot is hand painted. I really love to paint and to express myself creatively whether through realism or abstract art as shown in the pot. I have enjoyed taking care of this plant throughout the semester. I think that shows how deeply I enjoy caring for other things, which is related to the new major I choose: Biology with a pre med specialization.

About Me

My name is Alexis Sauer. I am in the Humanitarian Engineering Scholars program as a biology major. Some of my interests include creating art and reading. I am excited to be an Ohio State Buckeye this year!

I took the StrengthsFinder Assessment and it said that my top five strength are strategic, empathy, competition, responsibility, and intellection. My strategic strength helps me to create a  roadmap for a project to find the most efficient ways to reach the end goal. This helps me with time management  to  sure that I get everything done to the best of my ability in the time that I have allotted. The next strength, empathy, helps me to understand what others are going through, which allows me to listen and try to understand ideas that are different than my own. The diversity of ideas that I hear allow me to look at problems and try to consider other peoples perspective when I am solving them. I also like to challenge myself in the spirit of competition. Trying to win in competitions, no matter how frivolous, helps me to improve my own skills in the subject whether it is an  art competition or if my friends and I are competing for the best grade in the class. In order to help me achieve the goals that I make for myself with the strategic strength, I use my responsibility strenth to make sure I am reaching my goal on a reasonable time frame. But my responsibility also means that I make sure to always show up to things that I commit too, like doing my role in a group project or showing up on time for volunteer work. My final strength in the top five is intellection. I like to think through things in order to try to understand the world around me. This helps me to plan things out and to keep track of my commitments.
