About Me

Hello! My name is Gina Santangelo and I am a first year undergraduate student in the Health Sciences Scholars Program. I am currently on the pre-nursing track in hopes of eventually graduating with my BSN.  After I get my degree, I am interested in going to graduate school to peruse being a nurse practitioner or a nurse anesthetist. I attended Olentangy Liberty High School in Powell, Ohio and was very involved there. I played varsity basketball for all four years, was in National Honors Society, and went on mission trips to serve people all over the country. So far, I have been to Pennsylvania, Alabama, Michigan, and Illinois to serve, teach, and care for members of impoverished communities. In high school, I had the opportunity to shadow a nurse anesthetist at an out patient facility in Columbus, Ohio. Through this experience, I gained insight of what a typical day looks like, how to interact with all members of the care team, and what patient interactions would look like from the perspective of a nurse anesthetist. In college, I am hoping to get involved with Buckeyethon, Cru, Project Sunshine (a club to make donations to children and families at Nationwide Children’s Hospital) in addition to being in the HSS program. Also, I am currently in the process of getting a job at one of the University Hospitals. I am looking forward to my journey of getting my undergraduate degree and the people I meet along the way.
