About Me

Hi, my name is Ben Sanders and I coming to Ohio State from Robbinsville, New Jersey. I chose to make the journey to Columbus due to the vast amount of opportunities Ohio State has to offer, through the various resources inside and outside the classroom. From an early age I took a strong interest in sports, which became the focal point of my life outside of school. In high school, I solely focused on baseball, but other sports I enjoy to play and watch include basketball, football, and skiing. With playing sports comes injuries, and through my own personal injuries I was exposed to the medical field, particularly orthopedics. This personal connection sparked my interest to pursue a career in orthopedics and sports medicine.

During my four years as an undergraduate student at Ohio State, I plan to receive a degree in Exercise Science, while being on the Pre-Med track. I am striving to best prepare myself for applying and attending medical school through the courses, research, and medical experiences I am involved in. Being involved a member of the Health Science Scholars community will hopefully further enhance my undergraduate experience. Some of the areas of research I plan to take part in include biomechanics, endurance/performance techniques, and injury prevention. These areas of study correlate with my major, exercise science, and my goal of becoming an orthopedic surgeon. Another reason why I decided to come to Ohio State was due to the easily accessible medical centers, on campus and in the city of Columbus, enabling me to gain experience in a clinical setting before attending medical school. I am looking forward to growing not only as a student, but as a person, from the challenges and experiences that I will encounter at Ohio State.
