Global Awareness – Trip to Europe

One of the Honors & Scholars G.O.A.L.S. is global awareness. This spring break, I was fortunate enough to be able to take a trip to England and Wales and was able to explore their cities (including London) and learn about their history and culture. Pictured above are just some of my pictures from when I visited London. I loved being able to talk to new people, see historic places, and try new things (including food and new ways of doing things). I also loved being able to see the differences and similarities between the U.S. and the U.K. like the different common types of travel (trains and buses are way more common) and different types of housing (smaller flats are way more common than houses unlike in the U.S.) as well as many more.

End of Year Reflection (Year Two)

Throughout my second year of college, I have grown a lot. I took some classes that were out of my comfort zone and joined some new clubs (like Buckeyes for WHEP) and worked in new programs (like the WOW program where I helped young children throughout elementary schools in Columbus do science experiments). I had some struggles with classes (like Statistics) but worked as hard as I could and achieved great grades in all my classes. I also made the decision to pursue graduate school instead of medical school as I think I enjoy and am better at researching new protocol and theories. During spring break, I was fortunate enough to travel to and explore London and Wales which was a wonderful way to learn about a different country and their culture. Finally, I learned how adaptable and independent I can be as school was transferred online due to the coronavirus pandemic. Overall, this school year was filled with growth and new experiences for me that will most likely turn out to be invaluable in the future.

Statement of Action

For my remaining time on campus, I plan to focus mainly on getting research experience and applying to graduate school. I am relatively close to finishing all my classes and have completed all my GE classes so I will focus on taking elective classes for my major and minor that interest me and will be beneficial to me for my future career. Because I do not need to take as many classes a semester as I used to, I will try to get into a research lab so I can get as much research experience as possible. I will also be studying for the GRE and finding the graduate school that is the best fit for me. I will continue to be an active member in the organizations I am in and hope to find one or two more to participate in. During the summers, I will continue to do research with the LEGACY program at Wright Patterson Air Force Base (as I have previously explained in another tab) and expanding my network of connections. Once I graduate, I plan to go to a graduate school for neuropsychology and study the effects of trauma on the brain and behavior.

Abstract – Included in this Eportfolio

The different tabs included this eportfolio give an overview of my years at OSU as well as a sense of who I am. In the About Me tab, I give a background on myself and explain my goals for the future. In the Artifacts tab, I explore some of the important experiences in my past couple years at OSU that have helped me grow the most. In the Career tab, I included my resume as well as a plan of action for my future. In the G.O.A.L.S. tab, I explore some of my main goals and experiences that go along with them that I have had at OSU. Finally, the Year in Review tab is a short summary of both my years here at Ohio State.

Buckeyes for WHEP

In my second year at OSU, I joined Buckeyes for WHEP and became the social media chair for this organization. This organization focuses on helping young and underprivileged mothers, both by helping them get the supplies they need and by helping get them educated on how to properly care for their babies. It also helps mothers to finish their schooling and whatever education they want to pursue. As social media chair, I have helped organize a sex-ed event and spread awareness about our club. I learned how to be more organized as well as the major benefits of using social media to get the word out about our organization.
