Untapped Shores

This year I helped start up a new club called Untapped Shores at The Ohio State University. We are a branch of Untapped Shores International, which works to provide clean drinking water in via the Pure Shores CPS device, pictured here. This device uses salt and sunlight to provide clean drinking water quickly and easily using sustainable techniques. We work to help fundraise and spread the word about this amazing organization. It has been hard getting up on our feet but I believe we have a chance to make a real difference. Our club also focuses on volunteering in the local community through various events. This upcoming semester we hope to host a free clinic geared towards refugees.

Heart Walk

In August of 2016, I attended the Central Ohio Heart Walk, an event hosted by the American Heart Association dedicated to raising funds and awareness for various heart diseases. Pictured here is the T-shirt we wore for the walk. It was an incredibly moving event. It was so inspiring the thousands of people gathered; whether because they knew someone with a heart disease, they were inflicted themselves, or they just wanted to make a dirence. There was a strong sense of community the whole time, with children playing, people walking and people laughing (and occasionally crying) together. This event clearly demonstrated how when a community comes together for a good cause, and their hearts beats one,  it is capable of making a change, and a big one. This is especially impactful to me because I have found a passion to committing myself to service and ending injustice in this world one step at a time. And I believe the best way to accomplish this is by coming together.
