Module 3: Efficiency in the Digital Age

The most useful thing that I learned in this module is how to beat (or lessen) procrastination. The first tip that I learned is to break hard tasks into smaller pieces. For most people (including myself), when we have a hard task to complete, we often push it to the side and focus our attention on something that seems easier. If we break up that hard task into easier parts, we are more likely to want to complete the task. The second tip that I learned is to ask myself (write it on a piece of paper) 3 questions when I see myself procrastinating;

  1. Where are you?
  2. What do you want to do?
  3. How will you feel after doing it?

By answering these questions (on the piece of paper), I will be imagining myself doing the task that needs to be completed and will give me motivation to do it. The last tip that I learned is to switch your Ultimate goal with your immediate desire. An example of an ultimate goal is to finish a project and an example of an immediate desire is to want to play video games. As humans many of us will almost always give into an immediate desire, so if you are able to make your ultimate goal something that you want in this very moment, you are more inclined to beat procrastination.
