Dear Colleagues,
As we all know, the weather-related devastating event in Houston, Southeastern Texas, and Louisiana is adversely affecting thousands of families. As Buckeyes have a reputation of paying it forward, the College of Nursing has been working to connect with local charities and organizations on the ground in the south to determine their needs and how we can help through an initiative that we are calling “Buckeyes Bring Hope.”
We are creating a fast-response team to bring faculty, staff, students and alums together with community members to provide items for the victims of this terrible flood. I know we can work together and mobilize Buckeye Nation to support our friends in the south.
My staff has contacted two local charities that are already on the ground with connections in these devastated areas, Lifeline and Matthews 25: Ministries, who have offered to support our efforts by collecting and distributing much-needed items to those affected by Hurricane Harvey. Attached are items of great need for the victims of the flood. Updated information will be shared here: go.osu.edu/OSU-BBH. The College of Nursing is serving as one drop off site for these items, beginning on Tuesday 9/5/17; we are working on one or two other drop off sites on campus and I will let you know when those sites are confirmed. We will take items through next Thursday 9/7/17 at noon. An announcement will also go in this Friday’s OnCampus Today to drive people to a webpage that will allow faculty, staff and students the opportunity to get involved in helping and donating to this important cause.
