How I will introduce my course to learners:
The course will be introduced to students both in person, during the first class meeting, and online via the course website. Discussions and FAQs will be open and addressed on the online platform between students and instructors, as well as peer to peer.
How I will integrate usability and accessibility into my course:
The course will mainly be delivered in person, via lectures and PowerPoints. However, slides will be printed for each student to utilize and reference, if audio-visual learning is difficult for the student. Likewise, the verbal delivery of the course can be made accessible to individuals with hearing impairments by recording the lectures, and utilizing closed captioning in the recording – or by utilizing an in-person sign language interpreter. The online components of the course, such as discussions and quizzes, will be delivered via a structured course website. By utilizing accessible resources, such as Moodle or Canvas, the course will have access to usability requirements and can be adjusted as needed for students with specific needs (i.e. visual or hearing impairment).
How I will create an inclusive environment for all learners:
I will create an inclusive environment for all learners by clearly outlining the accessibility and usability of the course in the syllabus/ course introduction. I will outline all available resources to the students within the course syllabus and/or welcome packet. Likewise, I will provide my direct contact information to students so that they may reach out directly with any concerns about completing course work and/or accessing course content.
How my course will be organized:
My course will be organized by modules. Each module, or lecture session, will represent a different discipline relative to the course. For example, Module 1 will cover material specific to the interdisciplinary work between an APRN and an MD/DO. Subsequent modules will cover different disciplines. The very last module will serve as a cumulative module, reviewing each interdisciplinary scope of practice covered in the course.
