This course was great for from my individual perspective. Just adjusting from high school to college in short amount of time was just a great experience. I’ve learned so much in the short weeks, multiple different learning skills that have taken my education to a different level and not only that, I’ve used them in my other class as well.
One that I want to focus on is the Time management skills; I thought it made so much sense to me, the sooner the better. For example the process of stop procrastination was helpful because I know I have a serious issue when it comes to this. This section focused on major tools you can use to get you over the hump whenever you get caught up in the habit of postponing when you’re going to do something. People usually wait to the last minute and feel that they’re giving less than 100%.
The understanding of communication when it comes to collaborating with a partner that you never really meet is maybe the most important skill that I learned in one of the Modules. Also, knowing a schedule and being on the same page with that other student is helpful. A lot of the basic information I will share via email or even text multiple times, so those I work with will come together as one unit to get the job done. If you were ever to participate in collaboration and you never physically met with your partner, you should really focus on the communications and taking full advantage of you sources within technology. This experience was very helpful in understanding of correct feedback to get a better connection with your partner.
Practicing my MLA citation was also very useful when it came down to completing these assignments. I was familiar with it since I used it in high school so it was great reviewing it again. For example on that site when I had to complete a specific search string that was required I used this information multiple times. This helped me narrow down my searches to find the best of researched material.
I also found that not all the links that came up on my searches were 100% correct when trying to find the simple information, basically something like false advertisement. Getting adapted to easy.bib in high school made things easier for a transition to library.osu.edu but you still have to check for the accuracy. Everyone basically knows that those sites aren’t constantly right, especially when it comes down to citing the correct information that is not provided.
Personally I felt the pod-casts and listening skills and comprehension skills throughout the presentation helped the process of getting the correct answers to multiple questions. If you thought about how important it was to take notes before a quiz or a test, and then use those same resources to get information to study for those active quizzes that are about to occur, you would understand how important this is to preparing for assignments and tests. If you ask me, that’s the greatest tool you could use to organize yourself to study next to the study guide. Also, a lot depends on how well you want to do, and this is something only you can decide.
