Summary

After taking this class, I have learned more about the online study which can help me succeed for the future study. Here are my three takeaways from this class.

  • Time Management

Through this class, I learned that a reasonable and effective time arrangement is very important for our study and life, especially the preparation for the review of the final exam week. However, how to arrange the time properly and plan events is a difficult problem. As for me, I always list all the things I need to do on the paper once a week and check them every day. And for the events I need to complete within one day, I will allocate a certain amount of time for each task, and then schedule a specific time to complete them. I think some time management apps like Trello and Study Manager are good choices to make time management since you can see your timeline and event name on the app, and some apps also have a function to remind you to complete the task.

  • Note Taking

Note-taking is very important in our study life, especially when you are in class. In the classroom, the teacher’s lecture speed will be relatively fast. At this time, effectively and quickly writing down the accurate key content has a great impact on the later understanding and review. I think some strategies introduced in this class are very useful for us. For example, abbreviations like the first letters and reduced vowels can let us make notes quickly with just several letters, not the whole words. Also, symbols like “=”, “>” and so on can also replace the long words “equal” and “larger than” in our notes. I think in my future study, I will use these strategies and create my own abbreviations to take notes.

  • Goals Setting

Before this class, I always set goals with just several words, not thinking about the SMART goals setting strategy. However, I find that this method really increased my efficiency in achieving my goals. When I think about the specific content of my goals, I know what I really need to do and the importance of this goal. When I make the goal measurable and achievable, the goal becomes realistic and attainable, and I can also track my progress of the completion. Additionally, when I define the time frame of the target, I can know the deadline for it so that I can manage my time properly. At last, if I give myself some rewards after I achieve the goal, I will have more motivation.
