Introduction slide Client Presentation

Reflection on Client Presentation:

I have enjoyed working on the Martha Morehouse Journal Club website for my client, Deb Irwin. Throughout this process, Deb has responded quickly to my questions as I developed the website. Deb was also supportive of her staff, specifically the Professional Development workgroup, spending time with me as I occasionally asked for their opinion on the website.

I presented the completed website to Deb on 6/24/2019. The presentation consisted of a PowerPoint presentation that included information on each page of the website and instructions on the use of the website. Deb had these comments about the presentation:

  • The PowerPoint was thorough and clearly outlined the various aspects of the website. She mentioned that the instructions on the use of the website were clear and will be helpful in the future.
  • She commented that the website did include all the elements that she originally requested. It also included the changes suggested by the trial participants.
  • Deb agreed that the results of the second survey will be used to determine what additional changes, if any, need to be made.
  • Deb was excited about the prospect of expanding this platform to other areas of James Ambulatory.
  • Deb also stated that she was pleased with the recognition The James received because of this project being presented at the American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing national conference in May 2019.

At the end of our discussion, I asked if she had any immediate suggestions for revisions. She stated that she didn’t at this time but would review the website more closely and notify me of any suggestions. We scheduled a meeting for July 1st to discuss her ideas. At the July 1st meeting, she asked that I add information on how to apply continuing education (CE) hours obtained from participating in the journal club to the nursing certification/recertification process. It was decided that I would add a video describing the Individual Learning Needs Assessment (ILNA) process used by the Oncology Nursing Certification Center. I also decided to add a question to the post-trial survey about the amount of time everyone spent participating in each journal club session. If it is determined that this time is greater than one hour I will amend the CE application to award greater than one hour per session.

Deb’s feedback about my performance was very encouraging. She stated that she enjoyed our collaboration and looked forward to working with me on future projects.

The knowledge gained through completion of the practicum process and my time in the MLT program has prepared me to be successful in my future endeavors. I am excited to continue to build my experience in creating interesting, innovative, and informative education products to meet the ever-expanding needs of the James Ambulatory nurses.
