My name is Mallory Rowan and I am a third year honors Biological Engineering major and Spanish minor. I plan on attending graduate school to obtain my Physician’s Assistant license, and after working for a few years as a Physician’s Assistant, join the Peace Corps to provide medical care to underprivileged communities abroad. Coming from an engineering background, I think I can provide a unique perspective to the medical community. Not only will I be able to diagnose, treat, and care for patients, but I will have additional engineering knowledge and understanding of the equipment we are using and the human body as a system, as well as research experience in the medical technology field that most medical professionals may not have. I have worked on many projects throughout my undergraduate career, from robotics to fluid systems, that I can directly apply to my understanding of the human body and the medical field, and I believe this gives me an advantage as a medical professional. I greatly look forward to applying my engineering background in order to better the lives of those I work with through medicine, and I hope to eventually be able to apply my medical experience in order to save lives abroad.
