About Martin

Martin Rottler, M.S., CFI, is a Lecturer and Airline Bridge Program Coordinator at the Ohio State University’s Center for Aviation Studies in Columbus, OH. As a lecturer, he is primarily responsible for teaching several courses a semester and advising students. . Mr. Rottler brings a variety of aviation experiences to his teaching having worked in Coheadshotrporate Flight Operations for Cirrus Aircraft in Duluth, MN and in Flight Operations Quality Assurance at Korean Air in Seoul, South Korea. He currently holds a Commercial Pilot certificate, an Instrument Rating and is a Certified Flight Instructor

Martin also works as a Visiting Professor for the International Summer Program at Korea Aerospace University in Seoul, South Korea. Since 2013, he has taught the following courses to 150+ students from 20+ countries and universities:

  • Airline Operations and Management
  • Aviation Safety & Security
  • Aviation & Tourism

Outside of his duties in the classroom, Martin serves as the faculty advisor for the Ohio State University Flight Team, a student group that competes in ground and flight events as part of the National Intercollegiate Flying Association. In addition, he is the primary point of contact for various airline partners and is responsible for maintaining the Center’s bridge program relationships with various airline industry stakeholders. He also serves as the faculty advisor to several student groups through the Ohio State University’s Hillel. Martin also served as an inaugural blogger for the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association’s Opinion Leaders blog, where he shared personal insights into the aviation industry once a month.

Martin has shared expertise in these subjects at conferences and meetings for the Federal Aviation Administration, the Regional Airline Association, the Transportation Research Board, Boeing, and the University Aviation Association. He currently serves as chair of the Flight Education Committee for the University Aviation Association and is a Young Member of the Transportation Research Board’s Regional and Business Aviation committee.
Mr. Rottler is a 2008 graduate of the University of North Dakota’s Honors Program with a Bachelor of Arts degree, with minors in professional flight and aviation management. In 2011, he graduated from UND with a Master of Science degree in Education with an aviation cognate. As part of the thesis requirement for that degree, Martin developed an aviation education & outreach program for middle and high school students.

In his personal life, Mr. Rottler is an avid traveler & frequent flyer “mileage runner.” He is a long-time member, facilitator, and leader of CISV USA, an international peace education organization, where he is currently serves as the organization’s National Expansion Co-Chair and is active in the local Columbus chapter; he has also served on the organization’s National Executive Committee and National Board of Trustees. He lives in the Victorian Village neighborhood in Columbus with a half-lab half-German Shepherd named Piper and was born and raised in Denver, CO.
