Spring Project Conclusion

Before starting my spring project, I didn’t think I would get much out of the experience. I thought of it as another assignment I had to complete that I didn’t think I would benefit from in any significant way other than getting a break from traditional schoolwork. Although finding the time to knit during the week was hard and I didn’t really get started on my project until the first week of spring break, I can honestly say that I enjoyed the experience and learned a lot about myself that will be helpful when completing my capstone project next year. I discovered that it is difficult for me to manage a self-directed project if I don’t create a schedule and hold myself accountable for the weekly goals I set. Additionally, it is hard for me to be motivated to start a big project, but once I do, and I am able to see the progress I am making, I don’t lack the motivation to complete it. When it comes time to start my capstone project in the fall, I will find time in my schedule each week to work on my project, and I will force myself to stick to the schedule more than I did with my spring project so that I don’t wait to right before the deadline to start it. Overall, I am proud of how my hat turned out and am excited to spend time this summer learning to knit other items.
