Adventures

Entry 1:

In this adventure through Columbus, my friend Allan Thomas (AE Major) and I decided to take a trip to Jenni’s Splendid Ice Cream down on Short North. We planned to meet at the bus stop in front of Busch House around 4 after our classes. Of course after our glorious win against that team up north, we conversed about our experiences as freshmen at the game and how it felt to be in the midst of our fellow Buckeyes watching the game of the year. We talked about the upcoming Championship game this weekend and about which players might be leaving OSU this upcoming year. Eventually, we arrived at Jenni’s and got ourselves some excellent ice cream (even though it was freezing cold and snowing), and tried to go home. We ended up getting lost on the way back to campus, but we found our way back through the mini blizzard eventually. I greatly enjoyed having a good conversation over some ice cream with a good friend of mine from the summer.  If I had to do it over again, I would probably stick to taking bus routes that I actually know. In total, I would certainly do the trip over again for the experience, and would certainly do it again.

Artifacts

My Artifact dates back to my sophomore year of High School. I had been doing well in school for a few consecutive years and I was looking far ahead to the future to my University career. After a recent visit with Georgia Tech I was told to make my transcripts really stand out to stand a chance of admittance to both Georgia Tech and any other elite 4-year university. Resultantly, when I returned back to my city, I decided to make an attempt for Dual Enrollment. This would mean maintaining my full time high school schedule for the day time, and adding my part time community college schedule for the afternoon. At the time it seemed like a wild long shot, but in hindsight after graduating with my high school diploma and my Associates Degree, it was certainly all worth it.

About Me

Hola everybody, I’m Torrington. I’m an aspiring aviator, pilot, and business owner from Washington D.C. I chose OSU due to their excellent program in my major (Aviation Engineering), their D1 Football team (Go Bucks!) and the overall sense of academic unity and urge to succeed that the campus and its people provide. My love and passion for the industry of Aviation originates from my Granbdfather’s best friend, Lt. Col. Bowman, a first generation Red Tail. He always spoke of the glories of aviation and flying through the blue colored skies from the inside of that glass cockpit. After years of talking with him about flight, eventually I fell in love with art of Aviation myself and it became my own dream. So now, I plan to become a commercial pilot and eventually an airline owner. So yea, Welcome to me :).

My Strengths:

Competition

I relate to my #1 strength of competition because for my competitive nature gives me a drive and motivation to do better and thrive higher than my peers. If I’m running low on motivation, I just compete with myself and others to give me that last push to finish.

Empathy

-I relate to my #2 strength of empathy because my empathy allows me to look at certain real-life situations from multiple lenses and thus choose the most ethical and people positive and sensitive course of action. Empathy gives those in power, the ability to reflect/relate to those without power or resources.

Belief

-I relate to my #3 strength of belief because if I have something to believe in, it can calm me down if I feel life is too loose to handle. This strength  it also allows me to place my faith in others and their individual abilities and collective strength as a unit.

Individualization

-My Individualization strength gives me the ability to differentiate myself from the crowd and give myself my own unique identity to proceed from. Individualizing myself gives me a point of reference if I was to ever loose sight of myself.

Futuristic

-My #5 strength of being a futuristic minded person allows me to think ahead to the end goal/result while allowing me to change my course of action accordingly. Being a futuristic thinker truly assists in the process of game-planning and execution.
