Year in Review

[ “Year in Review”  is where you should reflect on the past year and show how you have evolved as a person and as a student.  You may want to focus on your growth in a particular area (as a leader, scholar, researcher, etc.) or you may want to talk about your overall experience over the past year.  For more guidance on using your ePortfolio, including questions and prompts that will help you get started, please visit the Honors & Scholars ePortfolio course in Carmen. G.O.A.L.S.

  • Global Awareness: I will become involved with many different groups and organizations at OSU, to introduce myself to other students of different backgrounds and cultures. I hope to look into a study abroad opportunity in a Spanish speaking country to learn more about different cultures and live amongst the people, engaging in their cultural aspects, food, and just daily activities. I believe this will help me grow as a person and appreciative for the great diversity in the world.
  • Original Inquiry: I will look into open research labs at Ohio State with subject matter important to me, such as a lab in psychology or neuroscience. If given the opportunity to work in a research lab I hope to gain many fundamental skills that I can carry with me to med school.
  • Academic Enrichment: I plan on pushing myself in the classroom by taking rigorous courses, such as honors courses and upper-level courses that push me to think more in depth. I believe taking harder courses will prep me for med school and allow me to learn different ways of studying and new approaches to learning material. I plan on graduating OSU with a degree in Neuroscience and a minor in Spanish. By minoring in Spanish I hope to gain skills that I will be able to carry on to med school and in my future career as a doctor with patients.
  • Leadership Development: Strong leadership skills is an important characteristic to have as an individual planning on pursuing a career in the medical field. Throughout high school I was very involved and was the senior class president. This helped me gain a base line for leadership. I plan on strengthening my leadership skills by applying for committee positions for different organizations and groups I become apart of here at OSU.
  • Service Engagement: During my time at OSU, I plan on continuing to dedicate my time to volunteering and helping out in my community. I plan on continuing to volunteer at the Franklin County Dog Shelter weekly and occasionally volunteering at the Mid-Ohio food bank. I also plan on volunteering at the Wexner Medical Center, helping with patient care while also developing skills to help me in my future career.
