First teaching e-portfolio post

Hello!

I am working to learn how to best utilize the tools that Ohio State University supplies me with as a student at this fine university.

This is a work in progress, so don’t mind my stardust ….

  1. Hi Mandy! Love your use of eye catching graphics on your home page. It made the page very visually interesting. As a pediatric nurse…love your stardust comment…it made me smile! I am looking forward to exploring your teaching blog.

  2. Hi Mandy,
I love that I really got a feel for who you are in your “Oh, Hey!” section. I can definitely tell you are fun and family oriented! I might suggest the addition of a head shot type picture of just you as one of the photos for this professional introduction and I would limit the photos to just 3 (perhaps a head shot, a family picture and one of the pets?) I also think it might flow better if you saved your personal introduction until the end. The first and the second paragraphs flow really well together and then the personal info as a second paragraph would serve as an exclamation point 🙂

    • I did get kinda carried away with photos, didn’t I ? 🙂 I was hoping to arrange them in a more organized fashion, but I feel very clumsy with these blog sites. Its probably about time for me to have a professional head shot 🙂

  3. Hi Mandy,
Perhaps at this stage in your academic career, a curriculum vitae may serve your needs better than a resume. I would consider omitting the jobs that are not healthcare related or simply list them as a year and the job title as they do not directly support your listed objective. I would correct the terminology for Sigma Theta Tau to international nursing honors society (I believe you listed it as a nursing honors fraternity) My only other suggestion would be in your honors and activities section to add dates. It was unclear to me what you are currently involved in and what you have been involved with in the past…ie do you still volunteer with the fire department? On the whole a very good picture of your skills and experience!

    • thank you so much for your suggestion(s) – I have just been continuously editing and changing my resume. I think it IS time to change to a CV. 🙂

  4. Hi Mandy!
Once again, your philosophy of teaching gave me a lot of insight to your values and the type of clinical teacher you are. I could visualize the encouragement and the challenge you would provide your students and the “stardust” goals you set for them. Nicely done.

  5. Mandy,
As I interpreted this assignment differently, I really enjoyed reading your goals for teaching as they were relevant and supported by the literature. They will serve as your teaching toolkit 🙂 Well done!
