Year in Review

[ “Year in Review”  is where you should reflect on the past year and show how you have evolved as a person and as a student.  You may want to focus on your growth in a particular area (as a leader, scholar, researcher, etc.) or you may want to talk about your overall experience over the past year.  For more guidance on using your ePortfolio, including questions and prompts that will help you get started, please visit the Honors & Scholars ePortfolio course in Carmen. G.O.A.L.S.

Global Awareness- I think it is very important to have a globally aware mindset. It is important to realize not just one’s place within society, but in a broader context of the World. Exploring different cultures really opens one’s mindset to others and can bring new ideas back to your own community. To fulfill the Global Awareness aspect of my Honors Experience, I plan on at some point studying abroad. Studying Abroad has always interested me, and I think it would be a good way to broaden my experiences.

OResearch- Original Inquiry is an important way to connect with the current research that is being developed. I plan on becoming involved with different research and advanced classes throughout my time at the Ohio State University. There are many different opportunities to become involved at our facilities. I hope to find new projects that interest me and my areas of study.

Academic Enrichment- Academic Enrichment is important to me as someone who wants to challenge themselves academically and further their knowledge. Taking challenging and difficult classwork with the most invested professors on campus can be an extremely rewarding experience. Through the Honors program I can connect with different professors and high level classes to best dive in to that challenging and rewarding work. The Honors level classes also allow for me to have a more personal experience with professors and students in smaller classroom settings. I feel more comfortable participating and seeing professors during their office hours to seek out the help I need.

Leadership Development- Ohio State provides us with a myriad of opportunities to become involved in the community. There are a vast amount of clubs and groups to become a greater part of the community. Ohio State is made up of a unique diverse community. I hope to take on more important roles within the different communities I’m involved with, to better prepare me for Leadership roles in my future career. Leadership is an important skill to develop, not only to be in a leadership role but to become a better member of any community.

Service Engagement- I think that one of the most important parts of being a proactive member of the community is to give back what you can. It is important to realize that your community extends beyond who you go to class with. I am looking forward to hopefully getting involved with the Legal Aid of Columbus, as a way to become involved with a community that interests me while also giving back to the community in a positive way.

Career

[“Career” is where you can collect information about your experiences and skills that will apply to your future career.  Like your resume, this is information that will evolve over time and should be continually updated.  For more guidance on using your ePortfolio, including questions and prompts that will help you get started, please visit the Honors & Scholars ePortfolio course in Carmen. Artifacts

[Artifacts are the items you consider to be representative of your academic interests and achievements. About Me

I am a Freshman at The Ohio State University. I am currently undecided about my major, but plan on studying something within the Humanities. I am particularly excited about taking my Philosophy classes, as something that has interested me throughout High School. As of right now, I plan on hopefully getting into Law School, but am still open to new opportunities.
