Project Statement
This project was focused on the development of pattern and translating them into color. My goal of this project was to demonstrate rotational movement through my abstractions. I used a variety of gradients and forms of rhythm to let that movement come through. I included both a monochromatic color palette as well as a split complementary one because while they are completely different, they still show that rotational motion in their own ways. Within the abstractions themselves, I tried to pick ones that already had a form of rotation or movement in general. The final outcome shows three mandalas with rotational movement and two color palettes to enhance that element.

Reflection
From this project, I gained a much deeper understanding of patterning. Before I worked on this, I had no idea what an abstraction was, and it was fascinating to see the process of breaking down everyday objects into new forms. This was also my first time learning about color theory. It has been one of my favorite topics we have talked about so far, and I look forward to diving deeper into it in the future. I faced challenges when operating Illustrator, and learned that sometimes manually placing the abstractions works better than solely relying on features like the rotational tool. I also had to learn more organization skills because of Illustrator. There were so many files and art boards with abstractions, I had to make it a priority to organize my work even more.
