Project Statement

This project consisted of translating a 2D shape into a 3D form and creating a new option with the same planar view. With my original form, I created balance through the use of different peak heights and a cross-shaped base. For the modified version, I liked the idea of adding a hidden element, so I added negative space and filled it in with a more visually interesting shape (square pyramid). The final outcome shows two forms with the same cross shape on the bottom. One of the forms contains negative space on the top with added pyramid forms on the inside.

Reflection

Overall, this project guided me to new explorations and ideas. I was able to try new iterations without fear of it failing. I got out of my comfort zone to create a form like I never have before. I faced challenges with craft and small measurement errors that compromised the overall outcome. However, these mistakes encouraged me to prototype more in future projects. Moving forward, I am eager to keep improving my craft and explore new ideas.
